REA MCP Setup
Build versioned REA installation commands and JSON/TOML client config. Choose your OS, native or JavaScript target and analyzer path; copy or download locally.
Client, system and analysis target
Choose Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, then Linux, macOS or Windows and Bash/zsh or PowerShell. Enter your installed Node version: REA 6.5.0 supports stable Node 22.19+, 24.11+ or 26+. Static JavaScript/Electron and .NET inspection need no native analyzer. Native analysis uses an existing supported analyzer; Ghidra and Hopper path overrides are optional.
Example: Codex, Linux, static JavaScript, Node 26.0.0. Merge the generated entry into ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.rea] command = "npx" args = [ "-y", "[email protected]", "mcp" ] startup_timeout_sec = 30
Inspect setup before applying it
'npx' '-y' '[email protected]' 'setup' '--client' 'codex' '--dry-run' 'npx' '-y' '[email protected]' 'setup' '--client' 'codex' 'npx' '-y' '[email protected]' 'doctor' '--client' 'codex' '--json'
The page generates commands but never executes them. Official setup registers your selected client and installs matching investigation instructions. Manual JSON/TOML snippets only register MCP; preserve existing settings and other servers. Restart the agent after setup. Paths containing spaces are preserved as JSON/TOML strings.
Version and limits
Package 6.5.0; reviewed 2026-10-18. Node version is self-reported. Windows uses the documented cmd.exe launcher wrapper; Windows Ghidra support is experimental. Configuration previews do not establish analyzer readiness or a live MCP connection.
