Claude Code Mods Starter Generator

Generate an original Claude Code mod with a plugin manifest and TypeScript module. Choose a prompt note or custom command, preview the source and download a project ZIP.

Two original TypeScript starters

Choose a workspace note above the prompt or a custom project-note command. Set a lowercase plugin name, author and note text; choose a note color or command name. Read each generated file, copy it, or download a ZIP with the full folder structure. The webpage never runs the generated module or installs a plugin.

The note uses ui.render for AbovePrompt and $.ui.resolve; it yields to surveys and targets the terminal/Desktop rendering site. The command uses session.start, command.run and $.command.register. Neither starter makes network, model or filesystem calls or changes tool permissions.

Example module and project layout

import type { On } from "claude-code";

export function register(on: On) {
  on("ui.render", { component: "AbovePrompt" }, async ($, event, next) => {
    if (event.props.hasSurvey) return next(event);
    const { Box, Text } = $.ui.resolve(event);
    return Box({ paddingX: 1, children: [Text({ color: "cyan", children: "Check the project notes before making changes." })] });
  });
}

The ZIP includes .claude-plugin/plugin.json, hooks/hooks.json, hooks/main.ts, README.md and .gitignore. Original FreeKitBox starter code, CC0. Your configured text is serialized as a string literal.

Validation and compatibility

Both starters passed Claude Code 2.1.302 plugin validate --strict. Official CLI mods baseline: 2.1.287+. Compatibility across later releases is not guaranteed; validate against the installed version.

claude plugin validate "./workspace-note" --strict

Read the source, extract the ZIP and run the validation command from its parent directory. To try it in an interactive session, use claude --plugin-dir ./your-plugin-name. Claude Code loads TypeScript directly and writes version-specific declarations to .claude-plugin/types/ on development load, with a root tsconfig when needed. Those types govern your installed build. A mod you install runs with Claude Code's access; inspect edits before loading.
